CANdo AUTO Module (P/N NET50022)
The CANdo AUTO Module is a rugged, multi-purpose CAN bus module with a USB port, two precision analogue inputs & a DC power supply input. The module is capable of operating either connected to a PC, or in a standalone mode
powered from a 12 or 24V DC supply, such as a vehicle battery. The module maybe used as an interface between a PC & a CAN bus, or between analogue sensors & a CAN bus, in standalone mode.
In addition, the module maybe programmed to transmit fixed, periodic CAN messages automatically on power up.
The CANdo AUTO Module is housed in a compact, waterproof & vibration proof ABS plastic enclosure.
A waterproof mini USB connector, with integral sealing cap, provides the connection to a PC. The CAN bus & power supply connections are provided by colour coded wires, sheathed by a corrugated plastic conduit.

CANdo AUTO Configuration
For standalone operation, the CANdo AUTO Module must first configured from a PC, using either the CANdo AUTO Configuration
software, or via the CANdo SDK API. The CANdo AUTO Configuraton software allows the two analogue inputs to be configured
to sample the input voltages & insert the sampled data, after appropriate scaling, into pre-defined CAN messages.
The configuration software also allows the module to be configured to transmit a number of fixed, periodic CAN messages
automatically on power up.
The configuration is stored within the module in non-volatile memory. Once configured, the module
automatically transmits on the CAN bus on power up, according to the set configuration. The validity of the
configuration in memory is checked on power up, before transmissions are enabled.
Notes :
- The CANdo AUTO Module contains no internal CAN bus termination
- The CAN bus must be terminated at either end with a 120 Ohm resistor, although a single 120 Ohm resistor will suffice for short cable lengths (< 2m)
- For long CAN networks (>10m) & in noisy environments the use of screened, twisted pair wire is recommended
- The CAN bus ground is electrically isolated from the USB & power supply grounds
